The Lotus Energy 36 watt Solar Home System is an excellent solution for household level electrification in rural areas of a country like Nepal. The Solar Home System package consists of a 36 watt Shell solar module, a 70AH or 94AH solar deep cycle battery, a 10A Solar Charge Controller and three high efficiency compact fluorescent lamps, as well as a complete set of installation materials with grounding wires. This system is manufactured as per World Bank specification for Solar Home Systems, and uses a 36 Wp / 50 Wp / 75 Wp solar module, a 12 volt 50 Ah / 94 Ah battery, a compact centralized control unit called PowerHouse, associated cables, accessories and battery acid, and 3 fluorescent lamps, structure etc. Centralized control is provided by a PV Powerhouse. The PowerHouse is an all-in-one sleek unit that combines a charge controller, battery housing and a load control center, for an easily installed compact and inexpensive unit. It works as an 8 Amp charge controller, load control center (three switches, plus an extra one for 6/9 volt load), multiple voltage regulator (6/9 volt DC), charge level indicator, as well as a battery enclosure (suitable for batteries of 285 mm x 171 mm x 247 mm or smaller). A larger size is also available, for up to five load switches, and a larger battery cabinet.
